CHILDRENS ART

2022

For my Senior Design Project at the University of San Francisco, I wrote a children's book that explores acceptance of non-conforming gender roles. “I Am Who I Am” is a children’s book that challenges the bounds of traditional gender roles. The book features main character Theo who struggles with peer criticism for his love of dancing.

My goal in creating this book is to make a space for young children to absorb lessons about the joy and the freedom of non-conformity and self-acceptance regardless of peer critique. My hope is that this book might spark inspiration and conversation about the importance of self-love and about the bravery it sometimes takes for children - and for all of us - to dare to live outside the dictates of society and instead forge a path that fosters personal fulfillment.
